Hey Scott, What are your thoughts on writing a script to shoot yourself? How would you approach the process of writing the script, would it be the same? My goal is to make my own films and the budget is an issue, but I’m not going to allow that to stop me on my “Hero’s Journey” of making films I believe in and I’m not going to wait for “Hollywood. I’m half way through the “Certificate in Feature Film Writing” at UCLA, along with being at the midpoint of a 2-year Meisner program. I know there are no short cuts, and I’m willing to put in the work and learn whatever it takes, so I’m grateful for whatever advice I can get from the “mentors” while on the Journey. Thank You, Shea
Shea, I have some thoughts for you on this subject, enough that I’ll put them up as a blog post in the next couple days. Also, one of my students is just now in the process of directing a movie from his own original script, one that he workshopped in one of my advanced classes. I’ll contact him to see if he can offer any special insight.
You appear to have that creative fire inside. Good. Writing a script is tough. Getting a movie made is exponentially tougher. So you need every bit of energy you can muster.
heck back over the next week for some feedback re your question.
