Busy day yesterday as three pitches sold. First, Participant Media, who we will be looking at in a post this weekend, bought “The Colony” from husband-and-wife acting-writing team Stacy Title and Jonathan Penner:
The socially progressive Participant grabbed the pitch because King said it combines “a really scary movie” with “a completely realistic environmental cautionary tale.”
Columbia Pictures nabs “Mythological Veterinarian, a comedy pitch from writer Andrew Kurtzman:
Laffer is about a modern-day veterinarian who’s recruited by a secret society that watches over the world’s mythological creatures.
Finally, Disney snags “Matadors”, a comedy by Mike Bender based on the “true story of the Chicago Bulls 14-member troupe of male dancing cheerleaders”:
Pitch by Mike Bender is described as a comedic take on what happens when a pair of the ultimate basketball fans form a cheerleading squad. The movie will feature extensive dance numbers, drawing on Fletcher’s experience as a choreographer.
