Scott, thanks for all the posts. They're great. Won't be frequenting the blogosphere as much as I have in the past. Trying to clean a few things up in my life. Probably won't be back here till Sunday or so.

Still, have a great New Years. Your blog posts ROCK!

Rumor has it that Spielberg actually kinda' "ghost" directed this film because Tobe Hooper was in the bag for most of the production. The other version I heard is that Spielberg didn't like most of Hooper's choices and took the reigns himself.

It certainly reeks of his visual style, to be sure.

Either way, I can't begin to tell you how much this film messed with my head back in the summer of '82. And what a great summer it was, eh? E.T., Star Trek 2, Tron, this... good memories.

Jeff, you know that Disney is doing a remake of Tron. Speaking of which, here is a 2-minute homemade 'remake' -- shot for shot -- of the light cycle battle.

One of my favorite movies from my childhood. I'm afraid to see it again as an adult ... it might not hold up.

Christian, now there's a category worth considering: "Movies We Loved as Kids, But Now... Not So Much." Not to be confused with "Movies We Love, But Our Kids... Not So Much." I remember a good friend telling me how excited he was to share Dr. Strangelove with his college-aged daughters -- and they thought it was awful, boring, nonsense, etc. Talk about a deflating experience.
