  1. Then there’s the one where the town itself comes alive and starts to eat the citizens …

    And the one where the town blows up into another dimension …

    And the one where all the citizens go crazy except for one kid, who tries to figure out what’s going on …

    That’s just off the top of my head, there may be more.

  2. I’m standing at a train station ticket office, Joshua J. The ticket lady is staring at me blankly. I’m quite sure she’s about to call security if I don’t give her a destination. C’mon, all I need is a name, kiddo. What’s the town’s name? Any of ‘em. Rhymes with? Klattu? Barada? Necktie?

  3. In my online classes, I do at least live-chat "office hour" session where everybody shows up for spontaneous Q&A;, story analysis, etc. Occasionally, as an exercise, we'll concoct a story from scratch, beginning much like the posts here. Perhaps something to try for kicks?
