"SHOCKER: ‘Fast n Furious’ Kills April All-Time Record"

From The Wrap:

Universal’s “Fast & Furious” is poised to claim the biggest April opening in history after revving up $30.1 million on Friday, and may take in as much as $60 million for the weekend.

Studio insiders are reporting that “Fast” will not only finish the weekend with the biggest debut weekend gross of 2009 so far, but it could be the third biggest opening weekend in Universal’s history.

Anybody catch F&F this weekend?

UPDATE: F&F breaks April record with $72.5M opening weekend at the box office:

“Fast & Furious” went from zero to an estimated $72.5 million so fast this weekend that it crashed through box-office records and astounded naysayers who doubted the film would ever be produced.

And with year-to-date box office about 5 percent ahead of last year at this time — with $2.39 billion — there are already predictions that 2009 could reach $10 billion.

Damn!
