  1. Ahhhh. Vegas as only we locals know it!

I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard at a trailer in a long time.

It definitely hits all three elements of your definition of High Concept, too. It grabbed me, gave me an indication of where it’s going and told me the planned audience.

As a side note, it is amazing how many near-falling-down drunk (wanna be) passengers show up at the airport here in Vegas. They can’t be allowed to board until they’ve sobered up.

I’ve often wanted to find out their stories. I’m guessing this movie might be based on one.

  2. I can hear the pitch now “It’s DUDE, WHERE’S MY CAR meets THE NIGHT BEFORE… in Vega$”

  3. I think the aspect that really elevates the concept is the ‘figure out what the hell happened’ mystery. It’s simultaneously working the story backward while moving the plot forward. Just a great comedy high concept.

  4. And it’s a very well written script, at least the 2007 draft that I read. They absolutely exploit the concept to its fullest.

The trailer indicates a few changes were made (at a minimum) — the script doesn’t have a baby appearing, and the guy gets a mohawk instead of losing his tooth … but Todd Phillips is a good director so I’m expecting this to be fairly true to the script.

Oh and Mike Tyson wasn’t in the script either, but his scene looks hilarious!
