Remember this deal:
Twentieth Century Fox has optioned rights to “How to Talk to Girls,” a newly published advice guide written by Alec Greven, a 9-year-old expert on the subject.
And this deal:
In the tentatively titled “A.C.O.D.,” which Miramax acquired on spec, the lead character discovers he was unknowingly part of a study on divorced children. He’s enlisted in a follow-up years later that wreaks new havoc on his family.
Well, the two deals intersected when it was announced yesterday that Ben Karlin and Stu Zicherman, the writers of “A.C.O.D.”, just landed the gig to adapt “How to Talk to Girls”:
Writers Ben Karlin and Stu Zicherman have been hired to translate a 9-year-old boy’s musings on seduction.Karlin, who is repped by UTA and 3 Arts Entertainment, has been a writer and executive producer on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” and “The Colbert Report.” He has an overall deal at HBO, where he is developing “Women’s Studies” and the Untitled Adam Resnick Project.
The WMA-repped Zicherman was a co-writer/creator of ABC’s “Six Degrees,” and he co-wrote the feature “Elektra.”
You just wonder whether Alec Greven has another hit story / book / idea in him. Although I’m sure he’s excited about how things have turned out, it’d be kind of sad to think of him peaking creatively at the age of 9.

Ha ha ha. They burn out so early these days. Man. If you haven't made it by the time you're eight, forget it.
