Daily dialogue — July 29, 2009

“It calls back a time when there were flowers all over the Earth… and there were valleys. And there were plains of tall green grass that you could lie down in – you could go to sleep in. And there were blue skies, and there was fresh air… and there were things growing all over the place, not just in some domed enclosures blasted some millions of miles out in to space.”

– Freeman Lowell (Bruce Dern), Silent Running (1972), written by Deric Washburn & Michael Cimino and Steven Bochco

  1. Loved that movie back in the day.

Favorite line "We're not playing for 3-IN-ONE oil."

  2. I think I read that the three droids in Silent Running — Huey, Louie, and Dewey — were inspiration for R2-D2.

  3. Yeah, I can see that. They were great little droids. Got a lot of emotion out of a little beeping machine. Come to think of it, R2-D2 also.
