“I want the last face you see in this world to be the face of love, so you look at me when they do this thing.  I’ll be the face of love for you.”

– Sister Helen Prejean (Susan Sarandon), Dead Man Walking (1995), written and directed by Tim Robbins

  1. I only had the courage to watch this powerful tour de force just once, and I was fortunate enough to see this one in the theater at that — and this single line of dialogue, so succinctly sums up the Sister's conflict — I had to look away, a line so poetic, so meaningful, IMMEDIATELY brought tears back to my eyes.

Good call on this line of dialogue. Was this movie an ass kicker of emotional powerhouse, or what?

  2. didn't watch the movie but i came across the story it was based on. kudos for tim robbins for presumingly showing the crime at the end of the movie thus messing with the audience's sympathy for penn's character
