Spec Script Sale: "The Panopticon"

Nice holiday gift to writer Craig Rosenberg as Lionsgate buys sci-fi thriller spec “The Panopticon”:

Lionsgate acquired the project as a spec, and will finance the film and control worldwide rights. The plan is to put it into production next year.

In “The Panopticon,” a salesman receives a pre-recorded message from himself that tells him the world is about to end and only he can save it.

Rosenberg is repped by UTA.

BTW, in January, I will be breaking down spec script sales in 2009.

  1. After reading the logline elsewhere, I wonder if the writer has any idea what a Panopticon is. I don't think he does.

    And that annoys me.

  2. Gotta say, though, that's a pretty cool concept. Not outrageously original, but original enough to peak interest.
