Movies You Made: "The Face of the Earth" written and directed by William Speruzzi

In response to this thread, William Speruzzi wrote:

I wrote and directed (produced and co-edited too but who wants to be a credit hog?) a gritty, dark neo-noir titled The Face of the Earth. It can be seen here on Vimeo. Here are my IMDb credits too.

I can say with all honesty and humility that the film was far too ambitious for its own good. That said, it was an intense learning experience and I wouldn’t change that for anything.

Here is the short film — “The Face of the Earth,” written and directed by William Speruzzi:

If you have any comments or questions for William, post them here.

Also if you have a full-length movie or short film that you wrote, directed, produced and/or acted in, and would like me to promote it on GITS, post background info and link here, or email me:

  1. Love those beginning shots, it can be tough to shoot outside at night–what camera did you use?

I also liked the mood and tone that was set up, well done!

  2. Thanks Cameron.

It was a tough shoot mainly because I was pushing for some level of authenticity. I was a stickler for real locations and those opening shots were in the Bronx without permits at that particular location. Can't believe we got away with it.

The same goes for the hotel scenes. That was an actually hotel used for prostitution. The whole shoot was in the middle of the summer and the air was thick. It added a certain level of discomfort and angst which I think reads well on the actors faces.

You can read more about the experience from my blog. I did an interview with my AD who's also a film journalist. Here it is.

At least no one can accuse me of faking it.
