H/T to Mystery Man for digging this up: “The 9 Most Epic Movie Firings”. The list:
Robocop
American Beauty
Fast Times at Ridgemont Hig
Good Fellas
Philadelphia
Jerry Maguire
Fight Club
Back to the Future II
Trading Places
Any list with Back to the Future II is suspect in my book. Picking one to feature here, I’d go with Jerry Maguire – classic example of how the guy doing the firing (Jay Mohr) turns around the situation to try to make the guy he’s firing (Tom Cruise) feel sorry for him (Mohr):
That is the work of a full-blown narcissist, my friends!
What other movie firings come to mind?

I thoroughly enjoyed the scene when Nicole Kidman got fired in The Stepford Wives. Her boss never comes out and says it and Nicole's realization is priceless.
Well, I enjoyed UP IN THE AIR a bunch. It's not so much an individual firing, as it is a whole movie of people being fired.
