YouTube has been working a lot with the majors when it comes to getting movies online. Now it’s using indie 2010 Sundance Film Festival to test rentals, announcing today via the YouTube blog that it will offer five festival films. The run is as limited as the festival: U.S. only, with rentals being offered from Friday through Sunday, Jan. 31.The movies you can rent:

YouTube makes its case in the blog: “Anything that brings more content to the YouTube community is a good thing. And making content available for rent will give our partners unprecedented control over the distribution of their work—they can decide the price of their videos and the rental duration; they can decide when and where their content is available; and they can keep 100 percent of their rights.” The Sundance videos are priced at $3.99 each.
The Cove
One Too Many Mornings
Homewrecker
Children of Invention
Bass Ackwards
Would you be willing to pay $3.99 to watch a movie during a 10-day window that it was screening only at the Sundance Film Festival?

yes. i can't go out to utah, and if they're not available anywhere else (aka netflix).
I wish some of these companies would allow Canadians to watch. No netflix, no YouTube Sundance... it's a shame.
If the Sundance offerings were actually of any interest, I certainly would. Sadly, this years batch, as we've discussed earlier, is a rather sorry lot.
(Though I must say THE COVE looks fascinating!)
I would only watch for $1.99 or on DVD from netflix. I hate watching movies on my 21 inch computer monitor with a computer that is a little to old.
The quality is severely lacking for me.
Maybe there are enough people out there who have invested in cinema quality set-ups for their pc or who enjoy watching lower quality broadcasts.
I will wait and hope these make it to DVD down the road
