Here is my preliminary list of spec script sales in 2009. These sales are based on me tracking news items in the trades and various tracking boards, my daily use of DoneDealPro.com (a great resource), ItsOnTheGrid.com (another great resource), and ongoing conversations with various managers I know.
Note: I’m not claiming this is 100% accurate. Indeed, I’m posting the list here so that if anyone knows of other sales I’ve missed, please forward that information to me:

Once the list is finalized, I’ll do some analysis, along with Jason Scoggins, per genres, reps, studios, etc.

By my count, that’s 67 spec scripts that sold in 2009. Down from 87 in 2008, which is in synch with all the news we’ve read and discussed on GITS during the last year — how movie studios are contracting acquisition, development, and production of movies for 2010 and possibly 2011.
That said, 67 spec scripts represents 67 solo writers or writing teams who tasted a bit of Hwood glitter last year as a result of their creative inspiration and writing perspiration.
More analysis to come next week.
