totally agree. every day i think about my features, yet when it comes to sit down and writing it, i have nothing to show.
Oh lawd, yes, yes.
My recent scripts are about people who – like me – have a tie to music in one way or another. And I listen to music a lot, either because a style of music directly relates to the story or I just want to pump myself up.
But sometimes it seems like three hours later I've listened to a lot of good music but still haven't typed one word.
It's best when you can combine both worlds. The one in which you let your right-brain percolate a bit, and then pop up with ideas/ solutions at random times. But you also just have to force yourself to sit and type-type-type anything. (Again, it reminds me of when I was an active musician. How often did I NOT want to practice, but made myself do it.)
